Item Description: Third generations S&W pistols are equipped with some of the finest stock triggers ever made, IMHO.
S&W 3914: $450
I characterize the 3914 as being in almost-excellent condition. The reason I say "almost" is because there are a couple of very minor chips in the frame paint on the right side. Please look at the photos. The weapon was purchased by the Israeli military police during the first Gulf War and apparently immediately mothballed by someone well-versed in the craft of long-term storage. I've put 250 rounds down the barrel and those may be among the only rounds the weapon has known. Comes with 3 magazines, 2 magazine springs, and 2 extra recoil springs (one new and the other is the original that looks to be in great shape but I felt more comfortable switching it out before firing a weapon that seems to have been in storage for 30 years). If you are familiar with the cost of 3rd Gen magazines then you know this pistol is a sweet deal.
S&W 5906: $385
Unlike the 3914, the 5906 seems to have been used as a true duty weapon. I characterize it as being in good condition. One of the three magazines (2-15 and 1-10 round) is Clinton-era ban vintage and contains the "Law Enforcement and Government use only" stamp on its side. The finish is in good shape with only minor surface scratches. I discovered after purchase that it had some minor rust pitting located primarily on the slide rails, but fortunately all it took was a bronze brush and Lucas Extreme Duty gun oil to nip that problem in the bud. Since it has been in my possession it is stored in a safe in a climate controlled environment. The trigger is sweeter than the 3914, perhaps from use. And the weight of the 5906 makes it a very soft shooter. Along with the magazines I include an additional magazine spring, 2 magazine followers, 2 extra recoil springs (same story as with the 3914), and a replacement grip and grip pin (I figure the plastic grip of an old duty weapon must be nearing the end of its useful life). Despite any abuse it took from a prior owner, it appears to me that this pistol may have enough life left in it to outlast parts availability.
I believe I am offering very fair prices for both of these weapons and am not inclined to bargain. However, I will sell as a pair for $750 to save me the inconvenience of handling two transactions. I am not itching for a trade, but please don't be afraid to try.
