Item Name: FS Scarce Non-Import Marked Mosin M38 Carbine-$235.00!
Location: Lawrenceville
Zip Code: 30043
Item is for: Sale Only
Sale Price: $235.00
Caliber: 7.62x54r
Willing to Ship: No
Bill of Sale Required?: No
Item Description: Up for sale is an unusal Russian 1942 M38 Mosin. This gun is not import marked. There are very, very few M38s in the U.S. without import markings. It's also still in an original WWII M38 stock. Most M38s were restocked with M44 stocks after the war. The muzzle is not counterbored. Most M38s were counterbored after the war during refurbishing. It has a nice shootable bore. Clean with strong rounded lands, some frosting. Good muzzle crown. No visible Russian refurb marks.
Now, here are the negatives. Not a single part matches any other part. It's possible that this is an unmarked Finnish rebuild. (No Finn markings). This is supported by the fact that some of the parts are pre&early war parts. Buttstock has been arsenal repaired, using brass pins. Good job, though. Handguard has some damage, but is solid.
It looks like this gun was a battlefield rebuild during or after WWII. It is a colorful gun that appears to have come in somehow before 1968.
Price is now only $245 and I'll meet you halfway, up to 15 miles or so from Lawrenceville. But, if you meet me at the Bass Pro Shop parking lot in Lawrenceville, the price is now only $235. You can buy an unusual M38 for less than most on ODT are asking for a run of the mill refurb 91/30.
