Looks to be a Ghost series (without the /26\) which were some of the first Chinese built SKS,s and were built under Soviet supervision and have Soviet stamp markings all over them, possibly Soviet manufactured receivers. Built 1956 to early 1957 . 213,000 were produced which in SKS terms that is not that many when over 3 million were built. Might be a collector item one day who knows but nice looking specimen. If it does have the /26\ it is still an early model maybe 1957.

Thanks for the info, it doesn't have the/26\ no Russian or Chinese markings.

Yep

Then I bet if you took it down and looked on the receiver standpipe areas you will see Russian inspector stamps.http://form.jotform.us/form/41858512574158 as the Chinese started there own production these inspection stampings started going away with the following years of progression. Very well made rifles and a piece of history and thank God you did not Bubba it. If its still around when I get back from my work I may offer you your price as its well worth it.
