Item Description: Beautiful smith and Wesson 357 magnum model 686-2 I believe. Pre lock style. Stainless is still beautiful and no burn marks.

Can you verify if this is a -2 or not and also does it have a stamped M from going back to the factory to be modified? thanks
 
Anything after a -1 should not have the M stamp showing the modification.
Starting with the -2 the guns were shipped with the change made prior to leaving
S&W and therefore not requiring modification. I was a S&W Police Armorer and worked for a
Department issuing the 686. I completed all the modifications on the Department's guns
and S&W was kind enough to send plenty of extra parts to take care of several friends. I was instructed
by S&W at that time (1987) that nothing after the -1 required the modification.

This is a 686 model. No dash. Just 686 not a -1 or -2 . So it's the 1981 Introduction model smith 357. Thankyou
