Yes they are. Wish I hadn't traded mine last year. BTW... you can get nice wood checkered grips and Allen head screws for these pistols in eBay pretty cheap.

I had an alloy-framed version of this gun. It was my first medium-sized carry pistol.
I liked everything about it, except that it wouldn't reliably feed most modern hollow-point bullets with their wide-open mouths. That was common to all 1911 type pistols built prior to the 1980s.
They all needed feed ramp polishing / barrel throat work, OR you choose your ammo carefully and find a HP that only has a small hole in the tip. Or maybe, today, you could try something like Hornady Critical Defense or Critical Duty, with the plastic plug in the tip.
Anyhow, I eventually got rid of all my 1911 style pistols, but the Star BKM was a good one that I like during the time I owned it.
