Item Description: Letting go another item from my meager collection, that I had gotten years ago from a very dear friend who has gone on to be with our Lord. This is a model 1890, octagon barrel, manufactured in 1909 and in great shape for considering it's 110 years old. It shoots great and comes with 199 rounds (4 boxes missing 1 round that I fired to check it out), CCI 'Winchester WRF' branded, newly made and purchased. The wood is in exceptional condition except for the 2 very small, minute letters that someone put into the stock long ago.
The letters look as if someone took a pencil and used the point to impress a few dots in the wood to make each letter, the letters only being about 3 dots tall, if that shows how small they are. They appear to say "TR" . Maybe this was one of Teddy Roosevelt's rifles that he took on one of his tree rat safaris when he couldn't get away for larger game, ha?
I included a picture of it below. Thank for looking and God bless.
