Item Description: This is a wonderful 1911 and is undoubtedly one of the smoothest shooting firearms I have ever had the pleasure of owning. Plus, it has an interesting story.
This frame and slide set was purchased by a Wilson Combat employee in 2012 and built to be their personal firearm. Since Wilson’s typically have 5-8 builders, whereas others like Nighthawk follow a builder per gun model, the quality is fairly consistent. It’s not often that you have a bad product, but it’s hard to find one that outshines the others, too. Their supergrades aren’t all that far off from their CQBs. Well, I would argue that this gun is a bar above the rest. Unfortunately, Wilson Combat won’t disclose to me who the builder was but the fine folks over at 1911Addicts had some guesses. Unfortunately, we may never know. Since Combat has been home to many incredible gunsmiths who flew the coop to start their own businesses and considering the fit and finish of this piece, I’m optimistic it was built by one of their best.
It’s built similar to a CQB elite, but has an adjustable tritium rear combat site and a fluted bull barrel. The finish on the slide has a bit of holster wear. Besides that, the gun appears to have a relatively low round count.
This is a sweet piece. I have a couple other Wilsons that have sentimental value and I want to try out some other semi-custom 1911s.
Interested in trading for a Nighthawk, Les Baer, Ed Brown, or Guncrafter. The Wilson will come with the WC range bag, the original owners manual, and a few Wilson mags.
