Is that talon grip permanent or is it a slip on sleeve?

It is a stick on grip, can easily be removed.

I have this one in .45 stainless with the talon grips and they are a must have on the xds, so much more comfortable to shoot. Basically they are laser cut decal grips, rubberized, you clean the grip and use a heat gun or hairdryer to apply them. I also have them on my Shield 9.

Nice pistol and the Talon's are a definite plus on it. GLWT
