Every time I've gone to CMP in the last two or three years they've had racks of them available at very good prices. Way less than you're willing to spend.

This is very good advice and a fantastic trip to make. I'd suggest joining the Garand Collector's Club/Society first, since you'll need to be in either that or a gun club to buy one.
