Not true--Remington made a few 28" Trap Barrels for 870's, 1100's and 1187's--All of those I've ever seen--And I have one for the 1100 and one for 1187's--Have been Fixed Choke, but it wouldn't surprise me if they made some with Remchokes....

I do know Remington made some different barrel lengths and choke versions but I have a 28in skeet which is ported, not sure if its factory or not but stamped remington, but a good machinists could have done it. Just saying.

I think that an 1100 barrel is a barrel....the main difference being ventilated rib.....28"...30"...26"...and so on...the choke, and length of the barrel is what one should be concerned with...I have not known an 1100 barrel to be "trap" "skeet" "sporting clays" barrel...it's just a barrel....the event that you shoot in should, to some extent determine barrel lenght....to a point....AND...it's all about what works best for YOU....for me, shooting trap, I would choose a longer barrel....for skeet, a shorter barrel....there are receivers that are marked "trap", BUT you can put any 1100 barrel on the receiver.....typically that will refer to more the the cut of the stock, and the quality of the wood....results could, and may vary
I would NEVER be seen shooting skeet with a 12ga.....that would be embarrassing!!!

A Remington 1100 Trap barrel says Trap on it and it is a different barrel it has a post in the extension that causes the ejected shell to fall right at your right side and not onto the pad to your right, so I believe some one that makes statements like that should be able to understand when they really do not know what they know
they may have made so 28" but the most are one were 30-34

Well, if anyone has a picture of a Remington 1100 barrel that is 28" and says "TRAP" on it, I would like to see it, and then I would stand corrected. I've had probably 50 1100s, including trap models and never saw one. The above poster is correct about the differences in the trap barrels. In addition, many of the older ones had "stepped" ribs. They also have white target beads and a mid-bead. Also, they also made some 30" fixed-choke 1100 trap barrel that were MOD choked for 16 yard-line. They are fairly rare, but I used to have one.

I would think any 1100 barrel that was marked "trap" was simply a barrel that matched the receiver.....I don't recall seeing one, however most of my 1100 experience was in the 60's, 70's and 80's.....probably only a gimmick.....barrels are barrels....choke and length....that's about that....as far as dropping shells at your feet...we used a rubber band for that...typically that would keep it in the receiver.....

It sounds like you are speaking of "field" barrels, not trap barrels. A trap barrel will fit on a field receiver, so they are not "matched" to a receiver.
