Any of you guys shoot rifle in 4-H back in the day, do they still allow the kids to fire rifles?

Mom sent me this article she clipped from the newspaper, says I'd just earned my Marksman 1st Class badge shooting 22LR in 4-H back around 1973

1973 wow! I was a senior at TOWERS HIGH!

Project SAFE is still super active all round the state. I've had numerous friend and family that competed but I never did personally. I still volunteer for 4-H regularly. It is one of the last youth organizations that hasn't totally derailed.
I see your from Statesboro. My granddaughter will start school at Ga Southern this fall.
Her high school team won the National Championship at Camp Perry this past summer. She plans on shooting 22 rifle at Ga Southern. Trying for a scholarship.

That's fantastic, I am currently going to school at Georgia Southern as well. The rifle team here qualified for NCAA finals (or something of the likes) just a week or so ago. The competition shooting teams here are evidently pretty good from what I have heard.

I just noticed that I'm wearing bell-bottom jeans in my OP :hippie:
I still have a pair in my closet.

Old Mill Range in Griffin is a first rate youth shooting facility. My youngest grandson shot 4-H there.
If you check their website there's a lot of useful information and lists of upcoming events.
Don't let the decrepit old building fool you it's just a disguise.

I hope she gets it. I received a completely "full ride" scholarship shooting smallbore 3 pos in the early to mid 80's.
