As you know, appraisals are estimates or opinions by hopefully knowledgeable people who declare themselves an expert on the basis of experience and time in a certain field or with a certain body of knowledge. I have bought and sold numerous "classic cars" in years past, with and without appraisals. I have paid other "appraisers" for their opinions in the past and have found that their assessments of value can be all over the map based on many variables. Sometimes the "appraisal" is not worth the paper it is written on. The ultimate determination of value is what it is worth to someone, such that they will pay that price for a commodity, be it a car, house or firearm. The process of "trading" in my opinion is a open discussion of values by someone interested in engaging in a transaction. The marketplace will usually dictate what is a "fair" price based on scarcity of an object and number of persons desiring said object, and relative desires of each potential purchaser. If you want to trade or buy, step right up.

I had a 1970 Malibu, I cloned to an SS chevelle, I sold the rolling chassis for $7500. It had new front fenders, complete rear quarter panels from goodmark, new floor pans, 12 bolt rear and disk brake conversion up front, also had SS suspension, marker lights, cowl hood and dash, bucket seat auto with floor shift. Wish I could have kept it. That's a bad ass body design. GLWS
