The gun is in great shape and ready to take some deer this year. Scope is nothing special but it is very clear for it's age and powered by standard watch batteries.

That's really subjective. If I say 98%-99% you'll show up and say it's trashed, if I say it's 95% people think I mean NRA 95% which is the same as trashed. It is a 1984 gun that has been cared for and shot a bit. It is not pristine, but it is definitely not a beater truck gun either. I'll say this; I don't take in strays that have been abused or look bad - I've not ever looked at it and considered having it re-blued. I hope that helps a little.
Let's call it somewhere between excellent and very good, leaning more towards excellent.
