There has a been a recent increase in scammers being able to gain access to legit established accounts. Because they're using established accounts, these are very difficult to catch prior to a user, or in many cases users, realizing they have been taken in a scam. Typically what is being listed is optic, always at a price that is entirely too good to be true, and they always want paid via Paypal F&F, Zelle, etc.

Regardless of who the user is, how long they've been a member, what their feedback is, etc, do not ever send electronic funds to someone you don't know personally....

This holds true for an optic or anything you buy online, I have no cash apps, and wouldn't never use one.
I've been scammed while using post office money order, anything is possible. while if it's large funds, I meet in person only.

I follow optics on here, mostly Leupold as I'm always looking for Leupold deal. I'm pretty savvy at internet price shopping and there are no Leupold deals here on the ODT. well, not if its in like new condition. Most all Leupolds listed on the ODT used, are at or above what they can be purchased new. Not trying to stir a pot here, and yes, a bit off topic. To be clear, not stirring the pot, just speaking truth. Yes, there are some deals on some, if you don't mind the damage.

To your point, should I find a deal it will always be face to face. I'm a gen X with a boomer brain, if a guy won't accept a cashiers check, I'm not sending money to anyone. I don't use non old boomer pay methods. No electronic payment unless its on a credit card. Too many are already working to their ways to separate me and the cash from my wallet.

I bought a Trijicon Tenmile 4.5-30 on Tacswap, 3 weeks ago, for $850, and hold on, I did PP FF. Guy had solid feedback, had just bought a Mil scope, and was just trying to get some cash back. I did the deal no issue and had it in 3 days. I then came here and put it up for $950, passing on the good deal, when I realized it was just too much scope. Shortly after I Featured, and did a Premium listing, “this” happened. Last time I ever purchase a Premium or Feature a listing. Oh, and scope is gone.

Sometimes that’s hard to tell also. I was out of state for 7 years. Did many many deals through pay apps and shipping. I mostly shipped a lot of stuff to GA. Even some gun trades with a few members. Shipped rifles and pistols to FFLs here. Not one single issue. I think it’s with the influx of new members with their 0 and 1 feedback scores that has everyone scared. And I get it. I got burned on Tacswap for $200 for a set of BUIS, I was sick over that money. Even though it could have been a lot worse

It happened to me! Someone hacked my account and posted a Garmin Chrono for like $400 and was in the process of making a "deal" with someone when Mods were able to restore my account to me! Such a shame! Glad they are so responsive and working on the issue though!
