Item Description: For Sale only. Browning Model 1885 High Wall rifle chambered in Remington 7mm Mag. Lever action falling block single shot, 28” octagonal barrel. The serial number shows it was made in 1985, the first year Browning made this model. Included is the 3x9 Nikon scope and two partial boxes of ammo. I bought this rifle and scope new in 1986 and have hunted deer, elk, bobcats and coyotes with it up until 4 years ago. The only reason I’m selling is due to a corneal transplant and I’m no longer allowed to shoot a high power rifle. No reason to have something you can’t use.

The rifle is in great hunting condition with the normal tiny bumps and dings in the stock finish from 26 years of hunting. There are no deep scratches, chips or gouges. The scope has a scratch on one side and the bluing at the end of the barrel has worn from riding in the truck muzzle down. The bore muzzle itself is recessed, so no harm to it or accuracy. I would guess I’ve fired around 200 rounds.

It is for sale at $1250 cash firm..... This is a rare rifle in 7mm Mag.

We can transfer ownership at a Firearms Dealer in Eatonton, Covington or Milledgeville GA.... This is my rule and if it bothers you, don't waste our time.

PM and I'll get back to you.

I’ve always wanted one of these. Wish I had the cash. GLWS
Went to Franklins in 1986 just to look. When I saw this rifle, it was a must have. Paid $900 then...
It is a sweet shooting rifle. Unlike a Ruger #1 that kicks like a mule, this rifle is heavy and is a pleasure to use.
You still know you're shooting a 7mm mag, but it is not punishing.
My friends never understood my love for a single shot rifle.
I never understood the need for more than one shot.
Never had to track my game. Hate to see an animal suffer from a poor shot.

I love the #1’s. My dad had a high wall in 6mm I use to hunt with when I was a kid and I loved it. It was very possible that my dad sold that rifle at Franklins.
The #1's are very nice rifles, just a little light for heavy loads.
Was at the range one day, when a guy asked me to test fire his #1 in 45-70 to see if it was sighted in correctly.
Fired one shot and I wanted to wrap that rifle around his head..... :-(
Happy Trails ~

Lol my dad had one of those to and I’m not a 45-70 fan anyway. I have a medium neighs barrel #1 in 280 that doesn’t kick much at all. Must of my #1 have been either bull or medium weight and and I have killed a lot of deer with them. I had a bull barrel 25-06 that I made my longest shot with but my M77 round top in 25-06 shot better so I let that one go.
