may i ask...how do you get these? are these like burned wood coals??? will it work with green egg?

It is coal that is mined from the coal mines all over the east coast and was used mainly to heat homes and still is used in commercial electric genration plants.
 
I remember when my grandma used coal it was $6 a ton in the 50's
Sounds like what my Dad paid in the early '50's

I think you can buy it now from the horse shoe place in Jasper for about $50 fpr 50 lbs. or 350 for 500 lbs. YOu have to load it yourself too.

yep go out to the pile and pick pieces that would fit in the heater,I remember busting up some of the bigger chunks so they would fit and always rake up the small stuff in a pile.
