Up for sale or trade is a very rare bird, a Suspended Springfield Colt 1911. This pistol was initially forged in 1916 by Springfield Armory, however an Ordnance Department order to redirect SA production to the 1903 rifle meant that the blank slide and frame were sent to Colt for completion. Such pistols can be identified by the serial range, and the lack of army ordnance inspector cartouche. In original condition, with a mottled patina and worn wood grips. Magazine is correct 2 tone. Barrel is SA marked. Some scratches on the trigger.
1916 was the last year of hand fit USGI 1911s. She shoots great.
Obviously this gun has seen some wear, as such I have priced it over 2000 dollars cheaper than the last Suspended Springfield that sold online. I think thats a fair discount!
Possible trade for WW1/WW2/Old West firearms. Always looking for Gew 98s!
