Headstamp FN 71 = 1971 production from Fabrique Nationale = Belgium production...So not made in Portugal, at least the brass anyway... probably reloads from 30/06 AP ammo...my best guess... label was just a sales gimmick many years ago...

Was Federal Ordnance Inc...........a good company? I know nothing on them?

They used to also make Mini-14 magazines that worked and were cheaper than Ruger. There were a surplus dealer and manufactured some stuff. They imported carbine and Garands as well as assembled some with there own receivers. They were hit and miss on some items. They went out of business in the mid 90's

Thanks Whiskerz; this is what I am looking for.............

If the headstamp is FN then the cases are from Belgium ? The only way to really know what you have is to open the bag and pull a bullet. Weigh the projectile real .308 is 152 grains vs a 30-06 projectile is 163. FN is a long time maker of AP.
