Item Description: I have 2 Parrot AR Drone 2.0s, these are Linux driven and controlled by your iPhone or iPad. These are the perfect inexpensive, rugged, and modifiable Drones to start into the hobby with.

They both have an HD front camera and an SD downfacing for landing and automatic position control. 32GB memory card, 3 batteries each, custom firmware for better control and longer battery life, custom CarbonFiber crash protection and reinforcement, roller barring upgrade, indoor and outdoor bodies, Super Bright LED kit for night flights, and tons of spare parts. Batteries last 10-15minutes and recharge in about 30minutes. They can do flips, record video with either camera, the have Virtual Reality games for dogfighting duels, and with the GPS module, you can do preprogrammed flights and more.

I got two AR Drones so I could do the VR games with them, I just don't have time to fly them anymore so they need a better home.

The Orange/Blue one has the most flight time and a little damage from bad landings, but still functions as good or better than new because of the upgrades

The Orange/Green one is basically brand new. I don't think it even has 1 hour of flight time on it. Has all the same upgrades some installed and some not.

Tons of spare parts and software/firmware.

I'll be happy to share all my knowledge and tips with you this was an exciting hobby I wish I could continue, but I just can't right now.

Asking $250 each or $475 for both.

Additional donations welcome, cash will go to charity, beer will go to my belly!

I've been doing some reading and these sound about what I'm looking for.
My main interest is to record shooting matches and I decided audio would be important. Do either have audio or can it be added?
A couple of other features I've seen and like are GPS altitude stabilization, RTH and Follow Me. For Follow Me, the transmitter would need GPS as well. But, I don't think your ad says there's transmitters. So, if they are phone or tablet controlled, does the GPS in those devises communicate with the drone. Also, if they are phone and tablet controlled, is wifi necessary? There's no wifi or internet connection at my gun club.

Yes, audio is recorded with the video.

These do not have built in GPS. This module is available for about $100 and allows all the features you're looking for. They have barometric altitude sensors, 3 axis gyrometer, accelerometer, and magnetometer, and the downward camera for position and altitude maintenance. You can set it to hover at 3 feet put the iPhone down and dribble the drone like a basketball.

They do use WiFi for control, in either Adhoc (Drone direct to phone/tablet) or Network (using a WiFi access point) modes. Adhoc mode gives you about 150-300ft range, and there are a bunch of tutorials on how to make a portable WiFi network and directional antenna for the AR Drone to get more range.

Christian, i didn't think about the blade noise, so a mic on the drone would probably be useless. So, I assume that if you are monitoring video thru a tablet, the tablet could record the video it's seeing. I would also assume that the tablet could record audio that is heard at the tablet, correct? If so, that would capture the "bang and clang" I'm looking for.
Reading up on the Parrot AR, they seem pretty easy to control. So, I could hover at a safe height from the shooting and just turn the drone on it's axis (yaw) to follow the movements of the shooters, i think.

I'll have to test how the mic works when I get home, but I'm pretty sure it's on the drone and you just get a background humming sound. The drone is also powerful enough to carry a GoPro I did this many times so I could get multiple simultaneous video angles.

Sounds pretty nice. Let me know how the mic works. I didn't know it had one. I understand it has modes to match different levels of experience, which I have none. One thing I read it that with some drones, the motors wear out pretty quickly. Have you had to replace any? I'm assuming they are brushless. The website didn't really say. And, with the upgrades, what's the flight time on one battery, if you take it easy and not try to fly too fast?
If I decide to get one from you, it'll be next week, with Christmas and all that going on. I would come to you so I can talk to you about the differences in the two.
