Item Description: Excellent condition 1987-1988ish 629-1 6" barrel 44 magnum. Wood grips have awesome grain. No box, no papers. Looks like it lived it's life in a safe or sock drawer. Will throw in leather shoulder holster. This serial # did fall under a very old recall. S&W acted like it wasn't a big deal, I pressed the warranty issue and I had it sent back for inspection (February of 2021). They had it for 3-4 months and sent it back after ZERO issues were found. This thing is a tank!

Is it a 629-1 or a 629 1? I see it’s not recessed (hence the 1), but is the barrel pinned?
I dont think they pinned/recessed the 629 series at all. I could be mistaken.
But i see it done only on blued .44mags - The N Frame .44 M29. :pop2:

If the OP looks at the cameras white balance in the settings then lighten it up a few steps....
That stainless will look better in pics :thumb:

no dash were P&R. -1 is not. kinda like the 66's...66 and 66-1 were P&R, -2 not.

IMHO...does NOT detract from a VERY FINE pre-lock smith smoke wagon.

Fine job researching, I knew someone would come up with it . Lol
Thanks for the correction-

I agree wholeheartedly, it definitely does not detract from the beauty of this gun at all !
GLWS TO THE OP - you have a fine pistol.

A LOT of action shooter prefer the non recessed cylinders for fast reloads with speed strips or speed loader.
