This rifle is absolutely gorgeous. The condition is unbelievable. The bolt runs silky smooth. No signs of rust, bore is clean.
The Krag Jorgensen rifle was originally adopted in August 1892 prior to the Spanish American war. The Krag was chosen over 53 other rifle types, including the Lee, Mauser, Mannlicher, and Schmidt-Rubin
The “Krag” was a first for US military arms.
- First high velocity small bore rifle fielded by US troops
- First US rifle to used smokeless powder
The Krags most identifiable feature is the side box magazine. The magazine folds out and the rounds can be loaded in by hand.
