Someone needs to scarf this gun up now. I bought one of these three years ago for $460 and was so impressed with it that I now want one in every gauge. My 12ga was built in 1947. It points and handles well. Mine's a little loose upon opening but is still on face and locks up tight. You'll find fancier guns but I don't think you'll find a better quality gun. I just wish mine was choked a little more open because on the skeet range he full/modified takes more skill than I have.

There are only two complaints I can see someone would have with it. First, the case hardened receiver turns purple with age and it's hard to get a good blued finish on it. Second, the lack of engraving makes you want to send it off and have it personalized. I have used Browning, Beretta, Franchi and Miroku over-unders but they haven't out performed the Marlin.
