I agree with backwoods. The guy can ask $5,000.00 for it if he wants. At what point does it become the responsibility of the buy to do their homework? Also, if you come across a seller whose selling something for way under the going rate, are you going to go ahead and give that seller more money for the item, or are you going to take the item at the undervalued price? Is that sort of like reverse gouging? And last, if you own the same type of equipment and its value goes way up because everybody is selling that item for a higher price than the original purchase price, will you complain then, when it benefits you? Or will you sell your item for far less than market demand when you get ready to sell it? I believe that Capitalism and free market are the best system because it is self correcting.

i've never owned a business, so i figure my knowledge of capitalism is probably diminished. nonetheless, i have the privilege (and so does everyone else) of getting the maximum price i can for whatever i sell, and paying the minimum for whatever i buy... i can't force anyone to sell at a low price, or buy at a high price. oh, and i can't force them to overcome their emotional "i gotta have it" to do some research about what it would cost. not my job and not enough time in life -- it's their personal responsibility to be informed. get a spending plan, save some money, do some research, control your own impulses :) /rant mode off
