On the block today is a custom (I know, I know...but this one really is) Marlin 1894S in Elmer Keith's caliber. This rifle was put together by a gunsmith in Texas before the "Dark" series became main stream. The original sites have been replaced with a ghost ring system. Rifle has been cerakoted (I believe) in black. Furniture has been refinished in a black, textured finish. Sling points have been added and a paracord sling installed. In the buttstock of the rifle, there is a hidden ammunition holder than holds six rounds. Each round is held in place by a sliding trap door that has tactile stops after each round, which is spring loaded. So you can eject one round at a time by feel. I have searched and haven't found this anywhere on the net and I believe it to be hand made. It's pretty slick. Also, on the forend, there's a piece of steel reinforcement. The barrel has been chopped to be flush with the mag tube and a recessed crown. I truly believe this rifle to be a one off. Rifle will come as pictured with 25 rounds of .44 Mag ammo and 25 rounds of .44 Special. Really looking to sell but am open to trades, too. As always, I will respond to all PM's. Thanks, ODT!
