For sale is a nice Ruger No.1 in 7.62x39 with a Leupold Vari-x iic 3-9x50 scope

No box or docs on this one. Will send with a hard case if I have any extras laying around.

Don't see these often and I don't really want to get rid of it. Trade would have to be something that I didn't know I wanted. Feel free to send offers, worst I can say is no.

What brand/bullet weight of ammo would be accurate enough so this rifle can should as it should? Is it a "Pre-warning" rifle?

It is a fine piece, regardless.

I've only ever shot hand loads out of it. But it is a true 7.62 barrel per my measurings. So all commercial loads should be safe in it. I get very respectable groups out to 200 with 125 grain projectiles. Never tried any farther than that.

Newer No 1 rifles have a gubmint warning printed on top of the barrel. Earlier ones do not, hence a "pre-warning" as the barrels are not cluttered up with gubmint warnings. Please let us know which type it is.

What is the bullet diameter for the 125gr bullet you load?

Thanks, Moose

Interesting rifle in an intersting caliber. I was under the impression that the Ruger #1 was only made in big game rounds.

When you say "respectable groups" what are you getting specifically? Any pics?

I am generally loathe to take on a new (to me) caliber, hence the questions. I prefer rifles that do not have the owners manual printed on top of the barrel. with these questions answered, I just might talk myself into pursuing this otherwise fine rifle.

I'll take a look when I am back home. Out of town for the holidays.

I don't have any pictures unfortunately. But it can shoot 2-2.5 moa at 200 when in a sled. The round just isn't inherently accurate on its own. While supported by my hand, I average minute of deer kill shot, lol. Factory ammo is a crap shoot as to accuracy.
