I’m sorry, but in my not so humbled opinion, this kind of guns are about as collectible as Cola bottles or WV Beatle (only 27 million been produced). I own few expensive rifles, but I don’t consider myself a “collector”, I’m a shooter, and they are expensive for a reason: exceptional engineering, superb materials, amazing precision, superb glass etc.
these Russian made stamped pos with poor everything, made on WW2 equipment and tooling, intended for conscript, ugly as it gets, capable of about 4-5” accuracy, if you’re lucky for 10k? Because this pos is no longer imported? There’s plenty of junk in 3rd world, go collect! People who would pay this kind of money for this kind of product need either education or mental evaluation, or both.
I’m very very VERY old if someone pays 10k for that.

FEG is looking to bring in new SVD's and sell them for $3800. So most people are looking to sale these's for what they can.

Yes feg is making some svd's and hopefully they will be here very soon, as far as the price its still not known whether 4k 5k or 6k. And even if they bring in 1 million of them it doesn't change the price of russian tigers, svd's and ndm-86 the fact that no russian guns will ever come in again, and when they are found and bought they are not cheap. Whether this sells or not i will still get my feg svd's. And if anyone is selling a tiger, svd, ndm86 for 2k, 3k, 4k, 5k etc. i will be happy to add it to my collection. Thanks

But it does change the buying market. If someone wants a svd, what will they do. Spend 10k on yours or 3-5 on a new one. The russain and Chinese ones will still be collectable, but I can see more people wanting to be able to shoot more than collect.

Whether you collect the gun or shoot it it doesn't change what the gun is. Whether you hang it on the wall or tie it up to a car and drag it behind that is a personal choice of use that has nothing to do with the make up of the gun.

Molot's Vepr is a long stroke piston, AKM on steroids. SVD is a short stroke piston, more like SKS than AK.
Different animals. Less moving mass in SVD. More accurate than AK.
US did not have DMR until we started to re-issue the M14.
