Item Description: Springfield Armory SAR 48, FAL Bush Pattern 18" barrel. These were built by Imbel of Brazil. The Israeli version is heavy barrel, built in bipod, flash hider. They stopped importation in this configuration in 1989 with the ban. Great shooter. Comes with one mag (takes metric mags). I will get more pictures later today. Many writers consider this model to be the closest to an original FN-FAL. I live in Fitzgerald. Not looking for any special trades but will listen to guns/multi-gun trades/guns and cash or CASH. My main interests are revolvers and milsurps. I was asked if it is marked Imbel and Springfield, the answer is yes on both accounts.

Rifle pictured is a “bush” light barrel version with 18 inch barrel…not the Israeli heavy barrel kit on Imbel receiver you implied in your ad…

nice rifle tho…

Is it actually on an Imbel receiver and finished with Springfield markings though?
Made in the state factory in Brazil.....City of Itajubá, Minas Gerais, Brazil, under contract for Springfield (rollmarked for Springfield Armory), licensed copies of the FN/FAL, Fabrique Nationale Herstal Belgium. Other than an Argy, it's the closest thing you'll get to a Belgian FAL. They are outstanding rifles.

From the Springfield Forums:
"With the dawn of the 1980s, people were very interested in the FAL design. FN had imported the guns into the country in a special semi-auto only variant in the 1970s but this supply was now cut off. Giving the public what they wanted, Springfield contracted with licensed-FAL producer Imbel in Brazil to make a semi-auto metric pattern rifle for the US import market.
Labeled and marked as the SAR-48, this rifle was as close to a Belgian made real deal FAL as you could get, other than the fact that it was semi-auto only. From the barrel to the gas piston action to the grips and mags, the gun was authentic."
