Item Description: Before WWII Greifelt competed with Merkel in the shotgun market. The O/U guns they made were comparable to Merkel in quality. This gun would be at the same level as a Merkel 301E (not 201E).

This is a very solid gun in good shape. It has Krupp fluid steel barrels and all functions work fine.

Von Lengerke & Detmold NY imported this gun originally in 1928 from Germany. I purchased copies of the original records and I will pass those along to the new owner.

The gun locks up tight as a bank vault, bores are clean and top lever is down the center. 26" barrels are the original length and the records show this. Chokes are light Imp. Cyl. & Improved Modified [tight modified].

The wood is in very good condition, no cracks, a few minor dings, one in the forearm is about the most noticeable, and it's not that big. The barrel blue is about 95% and looks original. Barrels have no dents, there is one imperfection at the side of the top rib but this is only cosmetic.

Gun weighs exactly 6lb 10oz on my digital postal scale, it handles more like a 20 gauge than a 12.

Very high quality full coverage hand engraving. Automatic ejectors (strong). Hinged front trigger. Raised solid rib. Auto safety with gold inlaid 'SAFE'.

The 2 5/8" chambers may have been opened to 2 3/4", hard to tell w/my chamber gauge with only 1/8" being involved.

Previous owner added a Pachmayr Decelerator pad. Length from front trigger over the pad is about 14 1/4". Drop is about 1 5/8" & 2 5/8".

The gun is in very nice shape and would normally sell in the $5000-$6000 range. The stock was converted from semi-pistol to straight grip at some point, a very professional job that absolutely looks factory original. The chokes were opened and a recoil pad added. This takes it out of the collector category, but if you want a very high end gun to actually shoot for not much money, I'll be glad to let you see the gun in person.

The hard case shown is not original, not included with the gun.

Note: I have used a few pictures from the original seller along with some of my own.
