Zip Code: 30306

Item is for: Sale Only
Sale Price: 500

Caliber: 32

Willing to Ship: No

Bill of Sale Required?: No

Item Description: Old US National double action 32 cal. in fair condition based upon the nickel plating condition. This gun came in three barrel lengths I believe. This is the short barrel at 2.5 inches. Found it at an estate sale several years ago. Looks like it was made between 1900 and 1947. It has a serial number 47001 preceeded by the letter R E or P not well struck. OK, I am asking too much for it but I dont know what it is worth so just let me know.

Iver Johnsons don't have that kind of collectors value, esp. for a specimen whose finish is in this poor condition.
I'll get my gun valuation books out although they're both several years old and tell you what they say.

------

One book says as of 2013, the value range of an Iver Johnson "model of 1900"
(which was made 1900 --1941 in various Calibers and barrel lengths and finishes)
was a range from $65 to $150, depending on exactly model with which features, and of course condition.

In perfect condition, Iver Johnsons are not worth a lot of money. I don't know anything about us national, but I'm going to guess this is worth about $100, even in today's weird market.

Go to gunbroker.com and do an advanced search for completed listings. I find the prices on that website are inflated anywhere from 10 to 25% for typical guns but very unusual or hard to find guns are sometimes a wild card. These revolvers are relatively common.

Sorry man: I don't think you found a treasure here. Good luck though

I think in today's market with gun lovers flush with COVID stimulus money and income tax refund checks right now, and fearful about future gun bans coming again,
a working revolver like yours should still be worth $200, even as ugly as it looks. I'd shoot it and see how it goes.
If you could tell a potential buyer that you've test fired it and it functioned fine, that would get you a lot more interest in the gun and a higher dollar offer.

FYI, as of Saturday this past weekend a gun store called the Outdoor Depot in Gainesville (next to the old Lakeshore Mall) had several boxes of new production Remington .32 Smith & Wesson "short" revolver ammo in stock
for about $50 per box of 50.
Seems like a fair price during these times.
