Another hard to find pistol out of my collection...
These are known in the collecting world as "Cigarette Pistols"
Why, you ask.???
These late war pistols were put together for war trophies after the Walther plant at Zella-Mehlis in Germany was captured by the American 2nd Armored Division and the 90th I.D., on 04 April 1945... The story is that the GI's rounded up ther workers after they had scattered when we rolled in...and for the price of 2 packs of "cigarettes" a pistol from the stockpile of parts was built for the GI... and somewhere between 10,000 to 15,000 of these pistols were ready to be assembled... They all have mismatched frame to slide serial numbers...
This is one and it is a complete rig...
both mags are the correct late war phosphate W marked mags...
The holster is made of Laminated Paper... super rare to have survived 76 years... the only piece if the holster that is leather is the flap retaining strap...
Frame is serial #382,xxx Slide is serial #387,xxx
There is NO Eagle N proof mark, which is correct for this variation...
Thanks to ODT and thanks for looking...
