Item Description: My headphone collection is getting out of hand so it's time to part with some I never use. I bought these new from Massdrop ( Drop now, stupid new name ) about 2 years ago and used them in rotation with several other pair of headphones for about 6 months. I then got the relatively similar but more neutrally tuned TH-X00 Ebony. The Ebony has become one of my all time favorites and they're so similar I rarely use these anymore. The Ebony is just a touch more neutral.
These come with the original box and bag that they come in from Massdrop.
This is a V or W shaped headphone with boosted highs and bass. The mids are slightly recessed but full and lushly presented. This is a basshead's delight headphone. With the TH-X00 Massdrop basically took the ( at the time these were released $900 ) Fostex TH-600 and retuned it to be pleasing to the human ear. It uses the Fostex/Foster Biodynamic driver that is unique in the headphone world. These are the first headphones that made me understand what is meant by liquid mids. Did I say bass? These have BASS. Correct bass that doesn't bleed into the mids or color other frequencies. That is a rare thing in headphones.
This is a 'flavor' headphone. It's warmly tinted with amazing extension on both ends. It's NOT a headphone for critical listening to classical music. If that's what you're looking for go get a Sennheiser HD600 or an AKG 701. This is a complementary pair of audiophile grade bass cannons for somebody that already has a 'reference' pair or a headphone for someone who loves Rock, Metal, EDM, electronica, hip hop or rap and doesn't care about reference and wants better sound than the crap offered by Beats. These are not very portable so they aren't going jogging or to the gym. Did I mention the bass?
There are 6500 of these in the world. This is number 6301. There is now a TR-X00 with a removable cable and about 350 of the newer model have sold. So still fewer than 7000 in the whole world. The finish on these is perfect. Some of the lower serial numbers had bubble wrap imperfections in the finish. These do not. The frame is a magnesium alloy for strength and weight. They are hand finished Mahogany so no two pair are alike.
They're 25ohm headphones so you can drive them with anything including a phone. No headphone amp required. They will benefit from one though. There are 3 versions of the TH-X00. The Purpleheart is the most V shaped with the most bass and most recessed mids. The Ebony is the most neutral and the Mahogany ( this one ) splits the difference.

I really don't want to part with these or I'd throw them on ebay. I'd ask $350 on ebay and they'd sell quick so the price is firm. I hate ebay though so I figured I'd try here first. I can talk about headphones for days so if you have any questions please feel free to ask. :P
