This beautiful, dark cherry sunburst flame maple top guitar, is an absolute tone monster, and is in excellent condition. This guitar has never been gig and stored in a smoke-free home. The pickups have been upgraded to the Seymour Duncan P-Rails humbucker pickups, are wired to four push/pull pots. The pickups and push/pull tops were installed by a professional luthier. Very clean installation. The tonal combinations are listed below:
With the tone and volume knobs in, you get humbuckers in series.
With the tone knobs out and the volume knobs in (the two bottom knobs), only the P90 coils are activated.
With the tone knobs in and the volume knobs out (the two top knobs), only the rail single coils are activated.
With the tone and volume knobs out, you get humbuckers in parallel.
Combine the above settings with the three-way pickup selector switch, and you have 24 possible tone combinations.
Just to be clear, “series” and “parallel” refer to how the two coils in the humbucking pickup are connected together. With series wiring, the output of one coil feeds the input of the second coil. This is the traditional humbucker we’re all accustomed to, with its thick, full, rich tone. When the two coils are connected in parallel, the two coils’ outputs are tied together and the inputs are tied together. This results in a tone that is somewhat similar to a single-coil, yet it still retains its humbucking characteristics, so noise isn’t a problem.
The neck version is reverse-wound/reverse polarity so you can use both P90s or both Rails together and achieve hum-canceling operation. Each pickup uses a pair of alnico 5 bar magnets, comes with a 4-conductor lead wire to allow for all the wiring options, and is vacuum wax potted for squeal free operation.
Comes with PRS padded gig bag.
