Read carefully!
This is a Prussian M1850 cavalry pistol that I am listing for my dad. He bought this pistol back in 1979 after being told it was a Turkish dueling pistol. It wasn't til years later that I started looking at it and realized what it was.
There are some odd things about it which must be pointed out. There is not one marking on this pistol, save for one tiny Prussian fraktur on the backstrap. I've had it completely apart, zero markings or stamps. If you've seen one of these, you'll know they were profusely stamped with numbers, unit markings, etc. There's not even a manufacturer on the lockplate.
I've had this pistol looked at by numerous experts, none can say for sure whether it is real, or a very good repro. One thing they can agree on is that it's almost 100% certain no one was producing a repro of this pistol at the time my father bought it. It is extremely well made, and I've had it next to other examples... other than the lack of markings, they are identical.
PM if interested, and I will try to answer any questions I can. Thanks for looking!
