I do not know, but that is a good question. I will try to find out.
This Smith was my Dads, then he gave it to my sister who I know never fired it.
I have no idea how many rounds if any my father fired.
It was not a gift to me, so I have no attachment.

Re. +P Ammo: Yes, it will handle them (occasionally). But the word is that the more fired, the more likely the frame will crack. So, my advice? Don't.
