How bad does a mag load feel like in it? I wanted one of these pretty bad back when they came out.

I have the 340PD which is the hammerless version. .357mag loads are brutal out of these guns. I have to rebuild my grip after 3 shots. First time I shot mine I put 50rds of .357mag through it. My right hand tingled mildly for over 24 hours after. Almost none of my friends that have tried it with .357mag have finished a 5 shot cylinder. For most 1 shot is enough to call it quits. They call it “The Noisy Cricket” in reference the movie Men In Black. Lol.

It’s much more managable in .38+P and not that bad in .38spl.

You don’t get much velocity advantage using .38+P’s over regular .38. The ~100fps velocity increase of .357mag isn’t worth the brutal recoil and slower follow up shots.

I carry Federal Gold Medal 148gr .38spl full wadcutters in mine. None of the JHP options in any +P load reliably expand and few of them make it past the 12 inch minimum penetration depth requirement in FBI gel testing. The wadcutters get a consistent 14-16 inches penetration, with the mildest recoil.

The reason for this gun isn’t to carry .357mag. It’s to have the smallest/lightest .38 you can get. It’s a fantastic pocket carry/ankle/BUG/non permissive environment gun with .38spl wadcutters in it. It does that like a champ.
