Item Description: I have a 1971 yamaha 175 2 stroke enduro for trade. It has a brand new top end, clutch, and back brakes done by tom's cycle in cleveland. It runs and rides great and is pretty peppy! It has kick start and electric start, but it needs a battery. Can be pushed off without a battery just fine. Tach, and speedo work great, as well as the odometer. Headlight still works, and it can be tagged and driven on the street. All offers welcome

It's a AT-1 125. Maybe you put a 175 topend on it. Only the 125's came with electric start. And 90% of the time it did not work. Also that bike does not need a battery to start. It must have other problems like in needs a NEW PISTON?? New topend? I'd do a compression check. it should be 125PSI or better.

This bike does indeed need a battery to start, doesnt every electric start need a battery? The battery in it is bad, so the electric start doesnt work. As stated above, it has a new top end, which means it has a new piston. Bike has plenty of compression too, thanks.
