Dunno...the mystery is where the slides/frames originate....says former SA/Baer employee...

as far as the serial number thing,I researched this extensively last night (by research extensively I mean googled it). Supposedly all Lightweights have LW prefixs on the serial number. A few of them are marked Brazil but most are not. Mine is not marked Brazil, it has Geneseo, ILL on the slide above the serial number. I don't know where the frame was forged, but I would bet that almost every SA has a part on it somewhere that originated in Brazil. As far as the NM thing I don't believe any LWs have the NM serial number, however they would all meet or exceed the criteria that is supposedly used for NM status.
