I've got some network and server gear I just want gone.

  • An HP (DL565 I think) quad proc / 48 core opteron server with 256g ram and three power supplies - Case is a little beat up, and don't try to pull the proc/memory cage unless you really need to)
  • An HP drive chassis with a handful of old 2tb drives still in it - pretty sure I have the oddball cables it needs for data connection
  • A Dell r710 with... I forget how much ram, 2 power supplies (though one occasionally glitches and you have to pull & reseat it)
  • A stack of older Cisco networking gear I collected when I was looking at a CCNA a bunch of years ago. I doubt any will run the newest IOS, but the upside is they will run older versions without any of the new Cisco licensing weirdness. I may even still have some of the reload files around somewhere.
  • Old Apple keyboards? Might even work. :-)
I've got some other stuff, like telco racks and an open frame 4 poster, but those aren't free and I can't offer them here. I'll eventually get around to listing them somewhere else.

we are building a new home and i will be creating a home network. First time ever doing this. So far I have switches for the wired network (POE and non POE). Would either of these

incorporate in the network at all?

I'm learning as I go.

Was hoping to have some network storage I believe and some processing power there as well. was looking at a raspberry pi. but if i could substitute this that would be great

Sorry for the delay - never saw your reply.
Those items are wildly inappropriate for what you're looking to do. Think using a tri-axle dump as a daily driver.
