Lets say that its 2am. You are in bed asleep and something goes bump. You wake up and realize that someone that doesnt belong there is now in the house with you. What is you go to weapon? Why?

You have stated in your post that you KNOW someone is in your home with you.
1st action needs to be contacting reinforcements and get help enroute.

I could list follow up actions in order..but 911 even if you dont speak needs to be 1st action taken.

Sorry man but you're dead wrong...maybe literally one day. Always, ALWAYS protect yourself first. You can call the police after the danger has been controlled. Dont be that person who gets famous by being recorded by a 911 operator while getting murdered.

OPs answer. converted Saiga 12. If 8+1 rounds of 00 buckshot doesnt stop it then I dont know what will!

My 870-

1-Because that beautiful sound of chambering a 3" mag means the same thing-no matter what native language the perp may speak.

2-Because some crackhead who just took a torso full of above ammo is unlikely to ever cause anyone anymore problems.

1911 and two extra mags in hand within three seconds. Secure wife behind bed. Get Mossy 930 with 25 round bandolier sling from corner. Drop behind bed next to wife and hand her the 1911. Two extra mags go to floor next to wife. She calls 911 while I cover door to bedroom.

The reason why is because I would find it very pleasurable to make that sound. Pretty much that sound means-"Oh sh*t, done ****ed up now-crack ain't worth what is be about to happen, dog..."

(Sure, a safety clicking off is undoubtedly a bad sign-but that big loud "ker-chunk" is soooo much more evil. There ain't no mistaking that sound.)

-Maybe I am a little bit of a bastard, but that is why.

(There is stuff I can get to faster, and maybe I would-but if something is sneaking around my house, I would think the ol' 870 would communicate the salient facts of the matter pretty well.)
