I agree, with one exception; murderers, rapists, and child molesters get the death penalty. Gun rights for them is moot.

That's another issue...you could start a thread. But considering the number of innocent people that have been absolved of crimes while sitting on death row, capital punishment is a no go for me. The risk of taking an innocent life is too great for any "justice" that could be done by the government killing a citizen.

Your position, which is consistent of course, assumes that 'paying your debt to society' equals rehabilitation. I don't subscribe.
I suppose you feel regardless of the number of DUI's you should always be allowed to get your license back (I get it's not an enumerated right but same principle).
There is a process for felons to get their 2A rights restored. I'm fine with that. Get out of jail and it becomes automatic, nope. You've proven your propensity to use firearms illegally and likely in a deadly manner towards innocents. I get the 'logic' behind your position, I simply don't agree and think it theoretical and naive.

You may have shown a propensity, but when you have paid your debt, you have paid your debt. What good are your rights if they can be taken away?

If the crime is egregious enough, the guilty party will waive all of their rights anyway, by death, or life in prison. If they are found fit to regain their freedom, those freedoms shouldn't be cherry-picked. Rights granted are privileges.

To me felon = no guns. Insurance fraud , theft or murder. The felons had choices to not commit the felony before hand, they knew the consequences. . . . . .

The current trend is to go federal with charges to get the felony, and complicating restoration of rights.

That also is another issue. Let's let everyone out and start over. Holder wants to begin with non-violent drug offenders.
