Anybody bought or seen one of these?

Have always regretted letting my SKS go and am looking for one but finding one for a reasonable price on here has been difficult so I thought about going this direction. I don't mind a battle worn rifle but at $300 its not exactly cheap and I'm on the fence about just saving up and picking up a nicer one.

If only I could travel back in time and pick up a dozen of these from K-MART back when you could pick em up for $89!

Yea bought one prob 6 months ago and came loaded in cosmo thicker than molasses that took close to 4 hrs to clean (heat gun method) but overall functional gun (safety didn't work but was still there) and relatively good shape def seen use no pitting on mine just most of the blueing was gone.It had all matching numbers and mine had Tula stampings on it and a Tula top cover dated 1952 i believe (not in front of me now) cousin got one at same time as me no soviet stamping on his but still had matching numbers and same overall condition

I am not 100% certain but I believe a lot of the big companies like J&G, Royal Tiger, Classic. SOG and many others bought boxes of them from IO Palm Bay Fla imports. All these guns are early models, which I prefer as I think they are just better overall than the later made SKS,s. Also there has been new facts about the early Chinese sks,s and there Soviet counterparts. They were probably stored in Albania and a lot of them have seen action with all the trench art that is showing up on these. I think why we are seeing some Tula's in this batch is the Albanians were using both Soviet and Chinese made Sks,s. These are the real deal! History abounds in this batch all milled parts and mostly screwed in barrels and chromes lined barrels. One of my Board persons has done tremendous research on these and just Google Running-man for much more info on these fine weapons. Also now we are seeing the early 1956 "Ghost" series popping up which are basically Chinese assembled, Soviet made parts, with 4 and 5 digit serials with no factory stamp. just a little over 213000 of these were produced before /26\ took over the plant in late 1956.

i would firmly say 300 is WAY to much for beater sks even by todays standards. last one i bought was a clean russian for 325 in a store no less! if you look around you should be able to find a decent shape one for that money you can at least look over and pay no shipping or fees

This is true. I just saw one go for $300 in good shape on here that I just missed. I don't understand the folks asking for $400+ for the Norinco's. And of course, there are those with all those listings with "extras" at 600+

Damn, are you saying my Norinco is worth 300+?

I didn't think the States imported Russian made Sks,s? I know Canada still gets Russian imported Sks,s! Just asking!

Also I believe the price is increasing on them out of fear that there will dry up soon! Another reason prices are higher on some of the beaters as there is history to collectors and way better built rifles than the per say Norinco commercial models. I have had both and will take the old beater any day over that cast receiver and pinned barrel Norinco! Not saying a Norinco is bad just not made as well as the old milled ,screw in barreled military grade Sks,s. But I think the prices are high at 300 from J&G to not know what you are going to get.
