Although similar drills have been carried out domestically in the past, such exercises are increasingly being conducted among civilian populations, suggesting an attempt to acclimate and condition the public to a persistent military presence.

“The exercise is actually an eight-week exercise taking place across seven states,” Mead explains. “As you can see right there, it spans the whole southwest of the United States. We’ve also added Mississippi and we have a group also working out of Florida.”

“We’ll have Navy Seals that’ll be conducting targets and training down in the Mississippi area,” Mead also says.

The interagency, unconventional warfare exercise, lasting eight weeks, will utilize 1,200 special forces personnel from multiple branches of the US military, including Army Green Berets, Navy Seals, Marine Special Operations Command and the 82nd Airborne Division, according to a Powerpoint presentation

Surprised no comments on this yet. Seems like a conditioning exercise to get civilians comfortable with military presence so when something goes down they are likely to stay calm and count on the military/government to come to their rescue. And possibly be inclined to inform said government representatives of any questionable individuals or groups who might not necessarily want or need government or military assistance. Nothing shocks me anymore, especially under this regime. Did you also read along with this about the FEMA domes sprouting up around the country? Scary stuff....
 
Doesn't take much of a search of world news the see that we are one the exceptions to the rule. In most of the world it is commonplace to see para military style law enforcement carrying automatic weapons. Given the vast broadening of federal "law enforcement" post 9/11 I would say just give it time.

You cant hardly go into any big city without seeing vehicles that are no doubt some form of enforcement but you cant begin to identify them. It's becoming more prevalent in our small town too (25,000 in the whole county) Tax dollars at work for our own good I'm sure.
