Watched season 1 of this series recently. Never read the books. From the reviews I've read, seems like the book fans hate the TV adaption.
Storyline is a newly appointed game warden in rural Wyoming stumbles his way into much-bigger-than-expected problems, and as a newcomer in the area, along with his family, has a lot of trouble adapting to the way things are in his new home town and his job.
Modern westerns are hot these days (Yellowstone and its spinoffs), and its usually about the cowboy ethos trying to cope with the modern world. Joe Picket is no different in that regard.
Bottom line: Script is a bit sappy, acting is only fair; I wouldn't describe the show as great, but it's certainly a watchable, modern western, if you like the genre.
