Joe Teti's bug out bag

I wasn't trying to challenge your response, as stated, I am learning this process myself and am open to ideas.
I see the bolt cutters as something primarily used to cut a fence or lock (that seemed to be Teti's purpose too, because he said "just in case a need to gain entry.") So, that would be the best item for that purpose, but it seems kind of heavy if it doesn't serve other purposes as well.
It seems that he had various items already to accomplish most of those other tasks that you listed (hacksaw and multitool in the 2nd pouch/pocket of the bag for the limbs and ferro rod, for example).

I keep one of the short crow bars in my tool box to use for most of those cases. A crowbar can get into most every thing.

For $13 how could you go wrong??? 40% lighter than steel handle cutters.

It is easy to bust open a lock without bolt cutters. A tomahawk makes quick work of a lock and has more uses and less weight than bolt cutters.

I twisted off a lock this weekend using a 1/2" socket extension instead of a hawk. It is quick and easy.

Seriously, is this for real? That looked almost effortless.

Nice work"

Pulling out the bolt cutters was funny as I wasn't expecting it.

I noticed he had nothing for water filtration like a LifeStraw. Yes he could boil water but that takes time, energy, and resources.

Surprised he didn't have any firesteel and not nearly enough paracord IMO.

Also bleach in the metal flask is not a good idea as bleach will corrode the flask.

Having said that, Joe has much more experience than me so I'll shut it.

great find. I put up this video cuz a lot of people ask me what's in my bag. Its kind of thought provoking. IMaDad blew me away with a lock pick gun. Its opens locks in seconds if your good or under a minute if your slow.
I will put that on my "list" for sure since my entry tool mat be just as fast but you can't lock it back behind you or worst case you can't close it behind you. Best case with mine is still obvious that someone went thru. After looking around I haven't found one under $50 so I'm still lookin but here's a link to what I'm talkin about

i like seeing all of the participation in this thread

Mentos I agree that about the ultralight starting point but that's just so I can carry more "stupid stuff" like ammo without the bag being 60+lbs
