Retread... the new treatment modality for major extremity bleeding especially in combat is:
1.) tourniquet

Treatment modality for major abdominal trauma... quickclot, packing

Makes sense with modern medivac times, but could you imagine dealing with major amputations and especially gut wounds on the move with no hope of surgical help?
I would imagine once the tissues started dying, the amputation wouldn't be as painful, at least until you got to the bone. I think I'll stick with the old methods. Might buy some of that quik-clot though.

Guess I better order more antibiotics from the pet store supply house. I wonder if they make laudenum (since we're going primitive) or morphine for fish?

You are correct Retread, if you do not have access to surgical intervention the whole treatment modality procedures change to some degree....
