Just curious. If you are 60 how cold is too cold when looking to relocate and retire?

anybody that would openly move to New Mexico is crazy!!! the lib's there are in COMPLETE control!!
Seems to be fact. I've been looking at property out west. Little apprehensive about that population. Love the country though. Want to find some elk land with views. At least it's a dream

Still looking and while prices have dropped they have not dropped enough. For example my neighbor up the street placed their house on the market November 2024 at $439000 ( over priced). The last price drop was to $409000 and it's now off market because it didn't sell. 2500sqft 1978 house on an acre with a screened in pool.

I'm still looking at Tennessee based on retirement taxes and low cost of living. West Virginia is second but the whole state gets snow just different depths.
Sounds like your friend made a good decision

I'm looking for a minimum of 10 acres, min 2 bedrooms, 30 min to town or medical facilities and groceries, not next to a road or train tracks or needing major work, all property/mineral/water rights and no right of way access to get to my own house for less than $300000. Harder to find than I thought.

I'll bet!!! you have a lot of requirements(not that anyone would have any less)....funny, when you start putting down your needs, the properties start getting harder and harder to find....

I don't know of anywhere in the country where you can fulfill those requirements at that price. I'm in the Hill Country of Texas. Just bought something similar. Depending on quality of home, you'd have to at least double and more realistically triple your price (and still not get all mineral rights). One thing I've learned, in too many transactions over the years, is patience is king. But I've also learned I generally have to spend a little more than I hoped and if I sit on my thumbs it's going to be more expensive tomorrow. Wish you the best and hope you find something that's perfect for you!
