Just Fed up with the work done on my car .

I recall you stating this on my old thread & glad that has worked out as well .

Funny I never got a Light through all this , just the 'Wrench" light came on in heavy ATL traffic in 2023 but only once .

Then again 1 time in heavy traffic in 2024 .

Both times , I turned the car off , waited 5 min & it never came on again .

No other lights except low washer fluid & low gas . ???

Cool : I Guess LOL
That electronic crap can drive one to drink.... Why I've started going back to old school. That stuff can be fixed and worked on

It could be the TCM. Transmission control module. It's highly unlikely that the transmissions are going out that fast but it could be a hinky transmission control module and it is popping up as a transmission problem. My sister had the same thing happen on one of her trucks it wasn't a Ford but it was the same thing and the TCM was to blame. She had the worst time getting that diagnosed correctly.

Some may recall , I made a thread back in April or May 2025 about my 2006 Crown Vic & it's "Idol "issues and 2 diagnostic checks said I had a Bad Transmission . Well I got the Tranny rebuilt , honestly the Tranny never showed any issues , now it does , & guess what The Idol is still not right . I have only had my car for 1 out of the last 3 months . I'm so sick of worrying about it & I'm broke & owe big $$$ on this .

After 4 trips back to the Shop ; like I said it's still not right ! I Picked it up yesterday . I"M DONE !!! P.S The Shop Owner Himself told me " The BUMP during accelerating & Stopping during the 1st to 2ed & 2ed to 1st shift ". I was not born yesterday & know that is not "Normal " for a Crown Vic + my Dad drove 2 of them for 20 years with both cars having right at 300.000 miles , this one has 55,000 / the only reason I had it fixed .

Again
I"M OVER IT !!!!!!!!!!

Thanks I'm just venting here .

God Bless Everyone & Have a Blessed Thanksgiving & Love your family & friends while you still can & always remember & honor those lost in the past .

Davers
You have to add “shutter stop” to the transmission to calm this in that tranny. It’s sold under several names, ford has their own version.
Not all do it, but it is not uncommon.

As for the idle, if it keeps dying with A/C on, it’s likely the Idle Air Motor. Easy fix with two bolts and a wire connector.

Also possible the intake itself has a leak in the bottom. If it’s a metal intake, it can be fixed, a Police package it may need an intake.
Several others things, but these are common issues in those unlearned models.

Sounds Awesome glad it has all worked out , most of the time patience pays off . I had a 65% nice Body , 132,000 mile 1982 S-10 Tahoe Long Bed V-6 , I got Jipped out of as part of a payment for my "repair" if you can call it that .

I likely never would have found the time to fix her up anyway + my 16 year old has 0 interest in Cars not even driving . ( that is a good thing tho in a $ and Worry way tho ) .
No but that is on my list , when I get the $$$ .

Seems they would have caught something like that tho . ? Oh Well

Thank You

I thought that as well at one point , It could still be the problem , I have been avoiding looking too deep into things but I hoped the TCM was connected to the throttle body and hence replaced . If not that is something else I will look into .

The Tranny is under warranty so adding something would likely void that , but don't think I have not thought of that .

It does it with the AC on or Off , I told this shop to check "Everything" but they have been wishy washy & full of excuses , they had it for 7 weeks of the last 3 months and I never rushed them / now the inlaws 'who referred ' said shop ' were very impatient as the wife used her moms car all that time as for me I rarely leave the house anymore .

Thanks for the reply .

It's not like the old 700R4 where you had the transmission cable hook to the throttle body anymore. The transmission control module is directly hooked up to your engine control module and both are synchronized to operate in conjunction with each other. It's all electric these days. So the engine is controlled with one engine ECM and the transmission with one TCM. Even though they're separate parts they do work in conjunction with each other and it's all done electrically. Instead of a kickdown cable from the throttle body you have solenoids in the transmission that actually shift the gears at the times that the transmission control module tells it to do so at certain RPMs based on signals from the engine control module. So it should be under warranty as well because that is part of the drivetrain. Unless Ford is trying to get over on somebody anything mechanical and the electrical things that operate that engine should all be covered under the factory warranty or extended warranty. Hopefully that's how it works so that'll be in your favor. 🙏

I believe both the ECM and TCM are covered under the emissions control systems and that's under a federally mandated warranty 8 years to 80,000 miles. So if they try to stiff you on that repair you need to bring that up. That's something not a lot of people know about so dig into it a little bit and make sure I'm remembering correctly.

That shudder stop is a Ford factory conditioner.
