Just had a gun gifted to me

Great gift and a really good rifle. Marlin made the rifles for "JC Higgins", Sears. Marlin model number is 103-450, that is just information. The rifles were produced to be a price leader for "JC HIGGINS" and Sears. The wood is a lower grade and the Marlin eye is not present, but the mechanism and barrel are all Marlin products. I have seen a .35 rem, and a .22. Yours is the first 30-30 I have seen in a while. From a value standpoint, the department store models made by Marlin are not increasing in value as rapidly as the JM stamped Marlins. I have a 30TK in 30-30. It is a straight stock, Texan, made for KMart, thus the TK. It has increased a little in value since I purchased it, but not a lot. But the value in your rifle is who gave it to you and why he gave it to you. To me, that rifle would be priceless. Congrats on a great rifle, one I am sure you will cherish.
I don't believe that is correct. This was a gift from the old man's wife. Do you declare all your Chrstmas gifts as income? Maybe you were joking. Also, when you inherit assets, you don't declare those as income. At least in Georgia you don't. If there's a CPA on here who cants to correct me, I'll listen. I"m a CFP.
