So here's how this morning went. My family owns a retail tire company and we have been buying tires wholesale from Kauffman Tires for years and my dad worked there in the 80's. I go into this particular building either concealed or openly carrying once to ten times a week for the last 6 years or more. Well today i walk in and stand at the counter for approximately 6 or 7 minutes. After waiting the manager looks out of his office and see's me standing there. He walks out and makes a wincing face and goes "_____ Tire Right? You can't have that gun on the property. and i cannot help you as long as you have it inside here. I can help you if you go outside but that's it." I say shouldn't there be a sign on the door saying that i can't have a gun on the property. So i then say alright well let's go outside. He looks at me and says what? I again repeat Let's go outside if you cannot do business with me inside and he then calls security as he says i know who can handle this. You were already put on notice. At this i ask him when i was put on notice and for the remainder of the time until "security" came to take me outside the building. So when "security" get's there i ask what his guy was talking about when he says i had already been put on notice and he says we mailed everyone letter's saying they couldn't bring guns inside of a Kauffman tires location any longer. Which no one at my business has ever seen or heard of. I ask why there isn't a sign saying this and he says they don't have to do it. So then after about 10 minutes talking to the two men that came to escort me out they said as long as my gun stays in the truck there's no problem and they respect my right to carry but i am not allowed to carry on their property.... Anyways just wanted you to know you need to leave your gun in the car next time you go get tires put on at a Kauffman location.

It's sad how scared people are of a gun. It can be on the hip of the nicest person & they immediately go into "WE'RE ALL GONNA BE KILLED BY THIS PSYCHO!" mode.

I was looking at some birthday cards at Bed, Bath & Beyond (smiling and laughing too so I would look extra intimidating) & one of the men who work there came around the corner to ask if I needed any help & let out an audible gasp, as he jumped back at the sight of my pistol.

My pistol is not on my hip for you. It is on my hip for me. Should someone attack me with force, I would use it to end the threat with force. It is not for harming the gentlemen asking if I need a hand finding the foot baths as many seem to believe.

/smh

Is this for all Kauffman tire locations? I always swear by the one in Acworth they are a good bunch of guys. never walked in carrying open but if they don't want my money while I'm carrying a personal item same as my keys then I just simply won't shop there. as a matter of fact I wish it was like Alabama so everyone had to tote open just to get the masses used to seeing guns all the time. As much as I love CC and the element of surprise I think the public should at least get comfortable
