I received a text from my credit union this morning asking if I had booked an Airbnb in the UK for 1072.00. I replied no and they asked me to call them. They canceled my card and said my new one should be delivered by Wednesday. This was all before 8am. Southern federal credit union is highly recommended.

My bank allows me to set up text message alerts based on custom filters. So I have an alert for whenever a charge comes through for over $250, or when a charge is international. Yours may do that too. Nice job on them.

My credit union is good about letting me know about fake charges. The cards need to be changed once a year IMHO.
The other thing I do -- especially for online purchases -- is to use an "alias" credit card through privacy.com. Each card number they create for you can only be used with that specific merchant. Or you can create "burner" card numbers which can only be used one time. So if that merchant is ever breached, just cancel the number and your real debit/credit card is still safe. Each card you create can use different funding sources too (your checking, your debit card, etc.). It's an amazing service.
NOTE TO SELF....no purchases over $249.99. :bounce:
I'm lowering it to $3.50 now... :eyebrows:

For the tech savvy with Samsung devices, if you add your debit & credit cards to Samsung Pay, you get an alert any time there is a charge.
